Year-end Development & Publishing Update 2022

What a year 2022 has been!
We got to celebrate our 11th anniversary, launch some super cool merch, announce and show off the first public demos for Wildfrost and Loco Motive, bring Eastward to XBOX, launch Eastward Switch retail and localise into German & Spanish, and sign some super secret new games. đź‘€
Looking forward, 2023 is looking jam-packed with exciting releases and announcements that we can’t wait to share with you all.
Without further ado, here’s some updates:

Wildfrost, Deadpan Games & Gaziter

Wildfrost is set to release early 2023 (still Winter!). Off the back of the Steam Next Fest demo feedback (thanks to all who played!), the dev team have been implementing, balance testing and playing with new features, new cards and more fun ways to play.
We were excited to have the opportunity to showcase Wildfrost at events across the world this year, including Tokyo Game Show, Busan Indie Connect, EGX London, as well as a BiliBili digital showcase in China. To top it off, Geoff Keighley and the lovely folks at The Game Awards even selected the game for The Game Awards x Steam demo event! Thank you for being patient whilst these tweaks and additional polish is happening, we’re sure you’re going to love it. The team’s goal is always to make the coolest game they can, and they’ve been able to make the next steps towards that goal thanks to everyone who gave feedback. If you enjoyed the demo, and want to find out more about Wildfrost before launch, come chat to us on Twitter or on the official Discord! There you’ll find teasers for new card designs, can see what we’re are working on, and chat about cheese 🧀.

Loco Motive, Robust Games

It’s been 1 year since we first revealed Loco Motive, a comedy point and click murder mystery from the duo at Robust Games, and what a year its been for them. The team has been sharing dev updates about their beautiful new art deco UI,  Earlier this year the team showed off their first public demo at AdventureX, London to much critical praise. Lots of laugh out loud moments on the booth and genuinely lovely feedback from the narrative games community that has spurred on the development. We hope to bring Loco Motive to even more shows in the future, so keep your eyes peeled on their Twitter for more info. You may have seen that we delayed the release of Loco Motive to account for a shift in production. It became apparent that there was a more robust (ʰᵉʰ) story in the Loco Motive universe that Adam and Joseph wanted to tell, so they’ll be taking their time to get it just right for players. If you want to check out more of Loco Motive, be sure to join their Discord server.

Eastward, Pixpil

We’ve been really busy with all-things Eastward this year. From new languages, Switch retail, all the way to a board game and XBOX Game Pass launch.
We’re so happy to be able to bring Sam and John’s adventure to even more players around the world! A lot of people have been asking if we’ll see any more Eastward adventures in the future, whether that be DLC or a sequel. We thought it would be best to ask none other than the frying pan hero himself, John. Over to you 🎤

“…”

There you have it folks! If you do want to keep up with all things Eastward, feel free to follow us on Twitter.

Wargroove, Chucklefish

Rumors have swirled in the ancient Auranian ruins, of pirate ghosts who whisper “≋M≋o≋r≋e≋g≋r≋o≋o≋v≋e≋” at any passerby who fails to protect themselves adequately. Whether these ethereal gossip-mongers know anything that we don’t is yet to be seen. Keep on your guard for these fiendish spirits or they’ll trick ye’!

Witchbrook, Chucklefish

We know how excited you all are for Witchbrook (so are we!). We appreciate the community’s support and also Popo for their daily praying on our Discord server.
This year we released the Witchbrook Steam Page, an official Twitter account and brand new screenshots full of charming details about this upcoming magical world. The Witchbrook team are working super hard to share more work-in-progress blogs, videos and sneak peeks next year! Bear with us: the wait will be worth it! 🙂 If you want to learn more about Witchbrook and upcoming news, make sure to wishlist the game on Steam, keep an eye on our Twitter and sign up for the Witchbrook Oracle!

We also want to take the time to thank our publishing partners at Netease, XD, Kakehashi and Bada for their support this year. Hand in hand we’ve been able to reach more players in more territories with even more games which is really cool!

We can’t wait for the upcoming news in 2023, and we thank you for being by our side along this journey.
Until next time!
