Chucklefish is hiring – Pixel Artist & Programmer needed for Starbound!

We’re looking to grow the team again and are on the look out for a Pixel Artist and Programmer to work on Starbound!

We are an independent games developer and publisher, with three in-house titles: Starbound, Wargroove and Witchbrook. We have also published: Stardew Valley, Risk of Rain, Pocket Rumble and many more. We are passionate about what we do, and are looking for someone who shares this passion. Our team is very friendly, diverse, and we have a no-crunch policy. We also have office dogs!

Successful applicants will be joining us to help develop new content for Starbound. We are open to applicants from all over the world and will help with relocation to our London office as long as you have the right skill-set and drive.

Gameplay Programmer – to help develop new content!

Requirements:

  • Knowledge and experience with video games, especially indie games
  • Experience with Lua
  • Experience with modern C++
  • Hands on experience implementing a variety of different gameplay experiences
  • Strong grasp of software engineering
  • Strong ability of understanding an unfamiliar code base, and being able to effectively debug it
  • Flexible with technology and always willing to learn new things
  • Understanding of distributed source control (such as git)
  • Good communication skills, not only with the team lead, but also with non-technical members of the team
  • Able to work without the need for being micro-managed
  • Capable of excelling in a relaxed open office environment
  • Able to work in our office in London (we have office dogs!)

Desirable skills:

  • Familiarity with Starbound
  • A good sense of game design and content design

Pixel Artist – to help create new content!

Requirements:

  • Excellent Pixel art skills as well as 2D and or 3D art skills
  • Open to different art styles
  • Knowledge and experience with video games, especially indie games
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to work without the need for being micro-managed
  • Capable of excelling in a relaxed open office environment
  • Able to work in our office in London (we have office dogs!)

Desirable skills:

  • Familiarity with Starbound
